oxford {photos}

Oxford

It’s summer, and while I’ve been traveling a lot recently it’s been mostly for work. This week though,  I’m actually on vacation. But  still….I find it hard to skip a post.  So consider this a blog-post-lite.

I’m sharing photos I took earlier this week while in Oxford. I was there for the Oxford Food Symposium, where I gave a talk about Campo dei Fiori.

More on all  that later.

But for now, just lovely photos of lovely Oxford. Just photos, not words.

Because, well, I’m on vacation.

    I am reminded of an interview of Oxford University’s Head Gardener on Johnny Carson’s show. He was asked how one gets such a beautiful lawn. His reply was “You water it, mow it, roll it and feed it. Water, mow, roll and feed it. In 3 or 400 years you end up with a beautiful lawn.”

    Reminds me of Inspector Morse and Lewis. I visited Oxford many times when I lived in London. Something about the light buildings and the open skies, even in damp weather. I loved it. Although your pictures show beautiful skies. Buona Vacanza!

    Thank you!! Oxford is my birthplace. I left Oxfordshire at a fairly young age (9), but I fondly remember all the honey-coloured Cotswold limestone, and the gardens.

    I love the images of the intricate ceiling work. The flowers at the end were a nice, happy surprise. Enjoy the vacation!

    Glad to hear you are having a vacation now! It’s been a busy, busy year! Photos make me long for England and Oxford…so looking forward to our next trip! You’re so lucky to have the opportunity to visit England so often and that it’s not that long of a trip! Ciao, Phyllis, enjoy your well deserved vacation!
