umbria {pretty pictures}

March 21, 2014 by Elizabeth 11 Comments

La Consulazione, TodiI had a great week. I was up in Umbria, helping out my friends at Oldways with a tour that they had organized. I planned the week for them, and had a fantastic time with the group eating, drinking and just having fun.

In fact, I so much fun, that I didn’t have a lot of time for writing.

But I did manage to take a lot of pretty pictures.

Don’t worry, the food part is coming next week.The Cupola of the Consulazione, TodiView from TodiOn the steps of San Fortunato, TodiFontana Maggiore, PerugiaPerugia, Centro StoricoPerugia Sunset

    They are lovely pictures. Umbria is such a beautiful region – and the food is delicious! Last year, for the first time, I went to Panicale, a small town in Umbria perched on a hill overlooking the huge valley and Castiglione del Lago on the edge of the longest lake in Italy. Before that spent several days in Rome (Trastevere) staying with an old friend…who had inherited our grapevine, among other plants, when we sold our Rome apartment. I was glad to see it is still going strong and full of baby grapes. Here are some pics I took on that trip:

    When you give us a recipe you tell us what is the tomato and what is the sage. When we see pretty pictures from Umbria, how about telling us if the photo is from Perugia or Todi? Yes, nice shots, but I can’t visit if I can’t identify. Grazia!

    Thanks Elizabeth! What a lovely reminder of our time spent there in ’08. We might try & get over when we are there this spring…really want some of that fine food and Sagrantino!

      Yes, I have to admit to having enjoyed a bit too much on the Sagrantino front this past week

    Let me have a try…
    #1, 2 & 4 are of (or from) the Duomo in Todi,
    #5 is of the Fontana Maggiore in Perugia,
    #6 is Corso Vannucci (Main street) in Perugia, as seen from the Cathderal side:
    And #7 is abeautiful sunset over the rooftops of Perugia, taken from the vicinity of the Rocca Paolina (Fortress) – I’d say Viale Indipendenza….
    Elizabeth, waiting for more!

      You won! You got all of them correctly! So sorry, the descriptions should appear if you hover over the photos, but for some reason that’s not working.
